–Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan are doing commentary and they are taped from Orlando, Florida.
–Opening Contest: Hacksaw Jim Duggan (8-0) defeats Rick Thames with a three-point stance clothesline at 2:42:
Heenan says that Duggan is always in a good mood because he is dumb, a point that is emphasized again when Duggan lifts Thames for a bodyslam and spins around several times before slamming him (because you see, Duggan is too absent minded to remember where the ring mat is located). Duggan is a good pick for the Orlando tapings because he has lots of things for the Disney crowd to chant, which is really all there is to say about this encounter.
–Gene Okerlund interviews Bunkhouse Buck, Colonel Robert Parker, and Meng. Buck says he is going to take Duggan down a notch at SuperBrawl. Parker adds that Duggan will be wearing his 2×4 by the time Buck is done with him.
–Alex Wright (13-0) pins Tom Burton after a reverse flying body press at 3:32:
The crowd pops for very elementary maneuvers for Wright, celebrating a headlock takeover and drop toe hold. Wright has some sloppiness as he forgets to come off the ropes for a dropkick but he uses that as motivation to kick things up a notch with some strikes and he wins with the usual. Heenan’s comedy continues after the match, slamming Wright for only knowing one dance move.
–A quick vignette lets us know that Sergeant Craig Pittman is coming next week to Worldwide!
–Okerlund provides the SuperBrawl Report. WCW Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Hart warn Vader that he is going to get slammed, leg dropped, and swallowed up by the Earth.
–Brian Pillman is still taking in the California sun when what he needs to be doing is buying better ring tights. One interesting thing about the “Blondes Are More Fun” hype video is that Pillman’s wife Melanie makes an appearance, getting into his car on Sunset Boulevard.
–Non-Title Match: Harlem Heat (WCW Tag Team Champions w/Sister Sherri) (8-0) defeat Brian Costello & Danny Walby when Booker T pins Walby after the Heatseeker at 2:33:
This match must have been filmed before the Heat won the tag team titles because they do not get an entrance. The Heat roll easily in this squash, punishing Walby a different version of the Heatseeker where Stevie Ray puts Walby on his shoulders and Booker T comes of the top rope with a missile dropkick.
–Okerlund interviews the Nasty Boys, with Jerry Sags saying that Sister Sherri is not very attractive and Brian Knobbs promising to “nasticize” Harlem Heat at SuperBrawl.
–Brad Armstrong pins Bobby Eaton (2-4) with a small package at 5:01:
When one thinks of the WCW midcard this is about as low as one can get. Eaton still has some issues with Alex Wright that have not been explained on WCW programming, leading one to guess it might have something to do with Wright kicking out of the Alabama Jam at Clash of the Champions. Eaton works at a faster pace than he has in other feature matches in 1995, missing his Alabama Jam but twisting his body in a way to soften the miss in mid-air and still clothesline Armstrong when he tries a comeback. The finish is slightly botched, as Armstrong has problems getting up for a slingshot suplex, but Eaton finds himself rolled up out of that and loses in what viewers would interpret as a small upset. Rating: **
–Sgt. Craig Pittman lets us know that he is one of the world’s finest.
–In a taped promo, U.S. Champion Vader and Harley Race say that there is going to be an explosion at SuperBrawl. It is time to find out who the man is.
–Tune in next week to see Hulk Hogan & Randy Savage square off against the Avalanche & the Butcher! Also, Brian Pillman, Alex Wright, and the Nasty Boys will be in action!
The Last Word: There is usually very little to report from Worldwide as these shows have to be deemed in isolation due to the taping schedule, but Bobby Heenan carried the broadcast with his jokes about the babyfaces. The main event was also serviceable, although giving Brad Armstrong a win as a singles seems like a big waste since there is nothing for him to do in that capacity going forward.
